Tivo Canada-worth it?

I'm with shaw right now and I was wondering if I should get the tivo DVR? (Im not very techy or anything so sorry if these are stupid questions!). So is it better getting tivo or should I just stick with a shaw PVR? Does tivo canada get the same shows as the US and are they up to date shows or is everything old like it is for netflix in canada? Also how many shows can you record at the same time? I just want to make sure its worth it =/ thank yoU!
