Can a wireless g range expander work with a wireless n router?

I currently have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router in my home office with a WRE54G range expander in my living room and the signal is just okay because I have thick concrete walls. I would like to upgrade to a wireless n router but i didn't know if the range expander would still work for that. I know it wouldn't send out N signals but would it still expand the b/g signals? Is there any other way of improving the signal in my living room (mainly to stream netflix on my tivo) with the cable modem in my home office?
