I got a 60 inch LG tv and im thinking of getting tivo is it worth it? i know you have to pay a montly fee?

i know you have to pay a monthly fee. what do you get for paying the fee? i got the normal Cable can you watch different channels that you dont have in the normal CABLE? and what are some other interesting things about it?
