TiVo top box help? Recording weird?

My TiVo keeps doing weird things. When I first got it, it worked like a charm. It recorded the channels I wanted etc etc. Now when lets say...I'm watching Law & Order for example and I'm recording something at 8:30pm on another channel. So here I am about to watch Law & Order at 8:30pm and then a box comes up saying "About to start recording 'Glee" (example) at 8:30pm. Do you want to....OPTION 1: Change channel to Glee OPTION 2: Cancel recording" Why can't I just watch Law & Order without having to change channels to Glee or cancel recording Glee? And the thing is you can't just get rid of the dialog box, you HAVE to choose one of the options. It's annoying. HELP?
