What should I buy for entertainment?

Hi should I buy a dvr or pvr like TiVo or somethingto watch tv and movies on are a external hard drive and just plug it in to my tv which one do u think do u think it's important to hv a xbox 360 to hv cool entertainment set p or sould I sell mine because I play it a lot and get something like a real ood dvr or pvr like a TiVo or something guys help me out
