How to recover programs from a broken tivo?

I have a Tivo with a failed motherboard. I replaced it, so I can watch my shows that I had recorded before it broke. It powers on fine, but when I get to the now playing list, it says "hardware failure detected" and to restart the tivo. From what I understand, the Tivo will work fine if I erase the hard drive. But, that defeats the purpose of trying to save the programs. What should I do?

Any way to keep the TiVo Premiere on a particular tuner?

The TiVo premiere has two tuners. When you are on a certain one (not sure whether its 1 or 2), you can flip between channels using the ENTER/LAST button on the remote, and both retain the last 30 minutes of the program. Hence, I can pause one, flip to the other one, and when there's a commercial flip back to the paused show and watch it. When you are on the other tuner, this does not work; it clears the data as soon as you change. The problem is I never know which tuner I am on, and it seems to change randomly. It will work, then an hour later or so I'm on the other tuner to no doing of my own. I'm not sure I can explain this any more clearly, but if you've run across this then you know exactly what I'm saying. My question is, how to know which tuner I am on. Perhaps a code to enter? How can I make the corners of my lips unchapped?

Losing disk space on computer when I transfer video from tivo to tivo desk top then to an external hard drive?

I just bought an external hard drive, and I've been transferring tivo recordings onto it using tivo desk top. I've been moving them to the hard drive so they are no longer listed in tivo desk top or anywhere else on the computer, except in the external hard drive which is listed in "my computer". However, after I transferred a few shows I got a critically low disk space message. The next day, it gave me a low space in C drive message. I don't know why the videos are taking up disk space after I've moved them, or how to prevent it.

Charter cable at my house goes out for hours and hours everytime the wind blows to hard or it rains, I cant afford the start up charges for Dish Network, and a digital converter box will not do anything where I live! Is there any easier way to watch at least something on tv without all the hassle and outrageous charges? Ive had to downgrade everything because I cant afford the high prices anymore. How does Tivo work or is there any other alternatives?

What are your summer essentials + do you use any that i do?

I pretty much use the same stuff too. For sunscreen you should use 30 because anything higher just has more chemicals that are bad for your skin. You just might have to apply it more often. Sun in I used to use until I found out because of the chemicals and the heat from the sun you are pretty much slowly frying and killing your hair. If you want to lighten your hair either use pure lemon juice or sea water. They help lighten your hair much better then sun in. Other essentials I use are like : cute sandals& flip flops, big floppy hats, crop tops, colorful bikinis (I get mine from Victoria's Secret), concealer, waterproof mascara, bronzer, pink blush, eyeshadow on waterline and a fruity summery body mist. 5" gray borders appeared on sides of Olevia 40" tv-in addition to black borders for aspect, full, zoom, etc.?

Two days ago a gray border suddenly appeared on both sides of the screen of my old Syntax Olevia (which is out of business and the new Olevia corp. is no help). I've tried the "cropping" turned on and off but still have wide, light gray bars on both sides of the screen. I've changed the aspect every which way but gray bars remain regardless of how the black borders move around. They do dissappear whenever the TIVO menu is on the screen, when Instant Netflix is streaming and when DVD's are on. But live TV and all recorded shows - even ones recorded prior - have the gray bars. Oddly, YouTube which I also get through TIVO has them too. My 40-inch television has turned into a 32-inch television. Any ideas?

Drug stores girl!! Yes they do have Burts Bees but they also have Neutrogena for cheap. There is also EOS(evolution of smooth) that works really good there is tinted and non tinted. I use this take it from me. Another thing that might be 1 or 2 bucks over 5 bucks is Badger Balm. Most of these products come in packs so thats why their a little pricey. A few drug stores that have these products are Walgreens, CVS, or Rite Aid(or at least in my town). Try some of those and if they don't work, and your really in need of natural lip balm, you can order them off line. Just look them up on Google or Purpoogle:)

Should I get a blu ray internal drive or external for my HP laptop?

I am kicking myself in the butt because I didn't add a blu ray burner on my computer when I ordered it last year. Basically, I have a TIVO HD-XL and I want to transfer my recorded shows to my computer (done already), edit the commercials and segments I want out of them (done already) and burn them to a blu ray disk with PowerDirector9 Ultra. I used something called TIVO Decoder GUI, and it converts .tivo videos into .mpeg2 which is wonderful. Everything is going well, except that I forgot that I don't have a blu ray burner (I have a regular dvd burner). Which is better for me? I want an internal one so I can just do the burning and watching right here on my laptop, but they're saying that barely any of them are compatable with an HP computer because of the size or the SATA or something like that... An external sounds great, but I don't know... My laptop is the HP Pavillion V6 Entertainment PC (dv6z-2100) (I custom built it on HP's website) and has about 500GB of memory on it, and 3GB of RAM. I heard something about an optical card or something, and having to switch them...I don't even know about... Can anyone recommend an internal one that works great? Or external? I have a PS3 and a blu ray player, but it would be nice to play them on my computer. This is likely due to the degree placements of your planets within the signs. Even though they be placed in signs of the same quality. A planet at five degrees does not aspect one at 15 degrees which in turn does not aspect one at 25 degrees.

I had to buy a new hard drive for my laptop. I don't have the restore disk for the OS, now what do I do?

I replaced my hard drive on my Gateway laptop. The new hard drive of course comes blank. I don't have my restore disk anymore, so I used my restore disk from work that is for an Emachines computer. Needless to say, the vast majority of the programs are non existant. How do I get my laptop up and running like normal from this point. I talked to Gateway and the restore disk is no longer available to order. Do I need to purchase a whole new operating system, or is there an easier avenue. About a week ago I noticed my lips were suddenly quite dry, so I bought another lip balm thinking my current one wasn't working, but it didn't make a difference. 2 days ago it moved to both corners of my mouth. They're very sore and it hurts when I open my mouth. I'm diabetic type 1, so I have blood tests quite often to check everything is ok. Last time I checked, I was borderline anemic. I also knew I had a vitamin D deficiency but I'm not sure if it's for anything else. Should I see my doctor or just leave it?

Know of a DVR device with no monthly subscription?

I have cable TV, but no cable box or anything (living in dorms). I was wanting a DVR device that will run similarly to Windows Media Center that I can plug the coax cable straight into and set up recordings. Why does my Tivo Series2 work fine, then after 10 mins it freezes?

I have Tivo Series2 tcd540040 and it works perfectly fine, but after 10 mins of watching live tv it freezes up and makes a scrambling type picture, it reboots eventually, then repeats cycle, 10 mins it freezes up and scrambles.....it used to work fine for 2 years.....is this a sign of a dead hard drive or something else?

My Tv (tube type), does not support the tivo box connection?

I was running the tivo box through my VCR, which since a recent storm no longer seems to remain powered on.... I thought maybe now I could use my dvd player as the medium source, however I can not get the cords right or the picture in. I don't know if my DVD player has what it needs to support the connections of the tivo, just as the tv does not? I have a hard time hearing what someone is saying while the TV is on, so I ask for people to pause TiVo while talking to me. okay so this is going to sound really weird, I'm 16 and up the age of about 10 i never used lip balm of any kind at all, but my lips started getting very sore, so my dad gave me a chap stick which really helped. Why are there no fully networked DVRs?

In the past I have owned HD DVRs from TIVO and Comcast. Both of them are decent DVRs if all you care is to record, stop and replay. But they do not network. First of all Comcast has no networking capability. TIVO has very limited primitive networking capability to one single PC of your choice on your home network. It also needs a high speed wireless network, and it does not connect to to the Gigabit ethernet of my home LAN. So I started doing web searches for networked DVRs (I want an HD DVR though.) I came up empty. Apparently no company offers products along these lines. Do you know why? Is it purely marketing? Or is it related to any regulations from FCC? Or something else? Will we see fully networked DVRs in the near future, who can talk to all computers and all NAS (network attached storage) on a small LAN?

TiVo top box help? Recording weird?

My TiVo keeps doing weird things. When I first got it, it worked like a charm. It recorded the channels I wanted etc etc. Now when lets say...I'm watching Law & Order for example and I'm recording something at 8:30pm on another channel. So here I am about to watch Law & Order at 8:30pm and then a box comes up saying "About to start recording 'Glee" (example) at 8:30pm. Do you want to....OPTION 1: Change channel to Glee OPTION 2: Cancel recording" Why can't I just watch Law & Order without having to change channels to Glee or cancel recording Glee? And the thing is you can't just get rid of the dialog box, you HAVE to choose one of the options. It's annoying. HELP?

I have red bumps under my nostril?

Alright so about 2 weeks ago I started to get this rash looking spot under my right nostril. It was a bunch of little bumps clustered together and it was red. After a few days it became flaky and 2 bumps spread down to above my lip. It is still there now, less visable and only slightly red. I can feel the bumps, but they have faded quite a bit. They were never numb or painful or sore, except for when they first showed up cuz I thought it was a pimple and I really irritated the area trying to pop it. I didn't ever really think to ask about it because it never really bothered me. I just assumed it was acne, I normally only get 1 or 2 pimples a month, sometimes a few more depending on how stressful my work week is. I am a 20 year old female. 120 lbs. Average skin type. I have no allergies that I know of yet. The reason that I am worked up about this now is because my boyfriend just started getting a cold sore or canker sore or something. I thought nothing of it at first because he gets them sometimes when he gets sick. But I asked him to look up the lip balm medication for it so I can go pick it up for him and he started reading up on it and he is freaked out now that it is herpes on his lip. Now its not like either of us are stepping out on each other, we are both just severe hypochondriacs. When he typed in the word "cold sore" to google a bunch of stuff about herpes popped up and that freaked him out and he texted me freaking out and at first I was saying no your over-reacting, but then I started thinking about the spot under my nose from 2 weeks ago and now I am freaking out and I just want to know should we be freaking out or are we over-reacting?

Tivo Series 2 Standalone with DirecTV?

I now have Comcast, but I am thinking of switching to DirecTV. I have 3 Tivo series 2 standalone Dvr's and a HD DVR through Comcast for my HD tv. Palmers CoCo Butter Lip Balm?

I use the Palmer's coco butter as well, I love it! I have used the lip balm I liked the smell and it makes your lips look nice and moisturized to, after a few days use I found my lips weren't as chapped! One thing I would say is you have to re-apply every few hours but it's small enough to take in your bag or put it in your pocket anyway - theres an SPF one aswell which i'm definitly taking with me when i go on holiday...for the price it is, it is definitly worth a try! xxxxx

Why does my friend always want to go to her house?

So my friend always wants to go to her house and sometimes i wish she could come to mine. Her house is a little bigger than mine, but that doesn't make it more fun. The only thing she has more than me is a Tivo and a bigger TV. I have a wii and my TV is smaller. I have more more food and i live closer to downtown than she does. Plus my room is bigger. Can you hook a security camera up to a regular dvr? Thinking about buying this security cam & this dvr?

I've seen a similar question to this before and I think the answer is no. It depends on the camera. I don't believe the CCTV cameras can hook in like that. I might be wrong though. Consider trying a wireless camera and saving the data to your PC. That might be an option for you. DVR systems are expensive and usually the cameras are not that good that come with them.

I have tivo but through direct tv and i have to make sure that my phone is connected to it for it work properly. You might have to do something similar since you have a new phone line, or it has to connect to a different serve on the net. Plus, i would call them and ask them to refund your money for those lost 2 months. I just checked their website and it says n18 means that it failed to configure and you need to make sure that your firewall isn't blocking it. That should help, if not, go to windows firewall and open port 80 by adding it to your safe list. Good luck.

hi, you might have an allergic reaction to something. I have super sensitive skin and i guess sensitive lips too. I have tried carmex, chapstick, burt's bees, Softlips you name it, but somehow i get terrible allergic reactions from all of them, and my lips get even drier. The only things that ever work for me are vaseline and lipsmackers(even though people think they are for little kids...they're still the only things that are safe for me haha). Good luck!

How do i get my tivo to record movie suggestions?

The only way I know is to hit three thumbs up on lots of movies that are either currently being shown on one of the channels or are shown in your guide. The TiVo software gathers information about which shows you like (indicated by your thumbs up and by what shows you record) and calculates suggestions based on that. If you like a lot of children's shows, it will suggest children's shows, if you like sitcoms, it suggests sitcoms, etc. I think movies are a little tougher to teach the TiVo that you like because you can't really record a 'movie' season pass. So you either have to spend some time finding movies you like and hitting three thumbs up OR another idea would be to find some "movie of the week's" and season pass them. Hopefully TiVo will get the hint :)

I'm on Clarus (accutane) for acne for another 3 months, and it dries everything up. I have really bad lip corner cracking and chapping, it turns red with a crusty white.
